NON-PUBLIC PLACEMENTS

The non-public specialist acts as the case manager for students residing in Calvert County who are placed in non-public educational facilities. The specialist coordinates the placement of those students and attends all IEP meetings related to the student. In addition, this specialist acts as the Education Partner for Parent Connections, the Partners for Success Parent Resource Center in Calvert County.

BEHAVIORAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM STAFF

For the students enrolled in a BDP program, the BDP psychologist is responsible for conducting psychological assessments and providing counseling. They also provide support through consultation with the teachers, administrators and faculty working with BDP students.

The behavioral specialist conducts observations for students identified by their schools as being at-risk. The specialist participates in the development of behavior intervention plans and in IEP meetings, as necessary. The specialist also conducts social skills training and Crisis Prevention/Intervention training.

TRANSITION AND ALT-MSA & MOD-MSA COORDINATION

The transition coordinator assists in ensuring a smoother transition between graduating students and adut service agencies by keeping open the lines of communication between schools and agencies. The coordinator also develops new job-training sites for Functional Skills and Vocational High School classes and works with the Transportation Department to work out transportation to/from these sites.

The Alternate MSA and Modified Maryland State Assessments (Alt-MSA, Mod-MSA) facilitator is responsible for attending Maryland State Department (MSDE) meetings and disseminating this information to the Department of Accountability and Special Education as well as affected school personnel (teachers and instructional assistants.)
